Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Uferzone app (iOS and Android) handles your data. The principle is simple: the app works without an account, and the operator collects no personal data about you.

1. Controller

2. Location data (GPS)

Uferzone needs your location to calculate the distance to the nearest shoreline and to warn you when you cross the 300-metre shore zone. This location data is processed exclusively on your device. It is not transmitted to the operator, not stored and not shared with third parties. You can revoke location access at any time in your device's system settings.

3. Loading the nautical charts

To update the chart data, the app downloads a data file from a Cloudflare storage bucket (Cloudflare R2). This is a plain downloadno personal or location data is sent from you. As with any internet request, the server may technically record your IP address in server logs (Cloudflare acting as a processor). This connection serves only to deliver the chart data.

4. Advertising

The free version shows ads via Google AdMob. For this, Google may process device and advertising identifiers. Where there is no consent for personalised advertising, ads are served non-personalised. On iOS, the app asks for your permission before any cross-app tracking (App Tracking Transparency). For details on Google's data processing, see the Google Privacy Policy.

You can remove ads permanently by purchasing the “Remove ads” subscription in the app (see next section).

5. Purchases and subscription

The “Remove ads” subscription is handled through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play. Payment is processed by Apple or Google — the operator receives no payment data. To manage the purchase state (e.g. whether the subscription is active), the service RevenueCat is used. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user ID and App Store transaction information for this purpose. No data that directly identifies you as a person is processed. Details: RevenueCat privacy, Apple and Google.

6. Local settings

Your app settings (e.g. language, accuracy options) are stored exclusively on your device and never leave it.

7. No analytics, no tracking by the operator

Uferzone contains no first-party analytics, statistics or crash-reporting software from the operator. No usage profiles are created.

8. Your rights

Depending on the applicable law (Swiss FADP or EU GDPR), you have the right to access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, as well as the right to object. Since the operator itself stores no personal data about you, such requests generally concern the third parties listed above. For any concerns, reach us at info@uferzone.ch.

9. Changes

This policy may be updated when the app or the services it uses change. The current version is always available at this address.
